Timeline for Psychological Assessments

Timeline for Psychological Assessments

  1. Dr. Crane will meet with you at an intake appointment to go over your history, symptoms, and concerns prior to completing any testing. The intake appointment lasts about an hour.

  2. Following the initial intake session, Dr. Crane will provide you with information about the specific tests recommended for your individual situation, as well as the associated fees and necessary test sessions. Testing sessions can range from 2 to 8 hours and are often scheduled for two different testing appointments.

  3. If you are using insurance to help pay for testing, it is your responsibility to call your insurance company to understand your psychological testing benefits. Some plans require pre-authorization prior to completing testing, which varies per insurance plan and could take up to 10 business days. When you call your insurance company, you can provide the following billing codes to receive more detailed information regarding coverage and your financial responsibility:

    90791 – Intake Appointment
    96130 & 96131 – Scoring/Interpretation/Report Writing Time

    96136 & 96137 - Test Administration
    90791 – Test Feedback Session

Please note that testing for educational purposes is not considered “medically necessary” including for evaluation of individuals with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Educational testing is excluded from medical coverage and therefore Dr. Crane does require payment for educational testing in full at the time of service.

  4. Once the testing sessions have been completed, Dr. Crane will schedule a test feedback session to review the testing results. This session typically lasts 45 to 60 minutes. If you would like to release the evaluation to your school, physician, or provider, you will need to sign a Release of Information form.

  5. Please note that the testing process may take 4 to 6 weeks to complete to include the intake appointment, testing sessions, written evaluation and test feedback appointment so that Dr. Crane has time to complete a comprehensive evaluation.
